Herb-rich grassland

Goal

The project is searching for revenue models to pay dairy farmers for planting and maintaining herb-rich grasslands, for example through the milk price or agricultural nature management.
These herb-rich grasslands:

  • expand the habitat for insects and meadow birds;
  • provide natural antibiotics for the cattle;
  • are more resistant to extreme conditions such as water shortage and flooding.

The project is also investigating what these grasslands mean for soil and water management.
