Biodiverse agriculture

An attractive landscape for walking or cycling. Healthy soil with plenty of life below the ground. Large numbers of insects thanks to nature-rich field margins and public green spaces, offering agriculture natural protection against pests. Animals and plants that can find enough food and shelter all year round and live on rich soil. This is the dream that the Green Circles Sustainable French Fries Chain and many other parties on Voorne-Putten, Goeree-Overflakkee and the island of Dordrecht are working to make a reality.

In this project the Green Circles Sustainable French Fries Chain is collaborating with parties such as growers in the South Holland islands collective, the Hollandse Delta water board, the Green Circles Circular Sugar Beet Chain and West Brabant Bee Landscape, farmers and managers of public green spaces.

The goal is to create greater biodiversity and in doing so an economically vital, liveable and ecologically sustainable countryside, more robust nature and vital agriculture. Since the start of the project we have mapped out the opportunities and bottlenecks in managing field margins and public green spaces. Different mixtures have been sown, including for nature, recreation and pest control. Our agenda for the next few years includes research into the development of instruments, such as a biodiversity map and improving the Obsidentify biodiversity app.
