Weilanden met grazende koeien, akkers met gezonde gewassen, kleurrijke bossen en vaarten met rietkragen langs de oevers. Nederland is mooi en dat moet in Meadows with grazing cows, fields full of healthy crops, colourful forests and progress with reed beds along shorelines – the Netherlands is a beautiful country, and Green Circles believes that it should remain so in the future. But how do you respect nature, while also wanting to contribute to economic growth and employment as a business or organisation?
Who are Green Circles?
Meadows with grazing cows, fields full of healthy crops, colourful forests and progress with reed beds along shorelines – the Netherlands is a beautiful country, and Green Circles believes that it should remain so in the future. But how do you respect nature, while also wanting to contribute to economic growth and employment as a business or organisation?
What does Green Circles hope to achieve?
Green Circles works on the development of cycles. Converting the linear production chains of progressive multinationals and SMEs into cycles will facilitate the circulation of scarce raw materials and enable the use of renewable energy. As a result, we’ll be able to restore our natural ecosystems and prevent the depletion of natural resources. Nature and economy will be brought back into balance, allowing for balanced growth.
In addition, we link the interests of companies with the interests of society. Engaged businesses increase the value of their product chain by increasing its public value. Strategies for this include sowing bee-friendly plant species on their business premises, or working towards increasing herb-rich grasslands for more meadow birds. This enables us to create added value, new revenue models and flywheels for innovation.
What does Green Circles do?
By means of an equal partnership between government bodies, industry and knowledge institutions, together with input from nature, we develop sustainable solutions for climate and other issues and strive to realise cycles through an ecosystems approach.
Green Circles focuses on:
- climate-neutral chains
- sustainable economy (energy-neutral, no fossil fuels), circular systems and ecosystems
- making living environments greener and more pleasant for employees and residents
- developing knowledge for a climate-neutral society
The Green Circles origin story
IIn 2013, Green Circles started a collaboration between HEINEKEN, the province of South Holland and Wageningen University. The work method and approach caught on rapidly, and more parties joined up. This was the point at which several more Green Circles partnerships were established. Collaborating on realising a shared dream and shared ambitions, enlarging the network and working together proved to be contagious! Our method and approach was established by the Netherlands School of Public Administration (NSOB)
